Description:
Trapped Moon is an interactive multi-functional light sculpture. The sculpture is made considering that it should be in constant change as life and the world in general.
The artistic starting point has been to capture the moon’s water mirror pick it up on land and set it outside the cultural center. The mirror image of a moon landing or fallen to spread light and mystery. Sphere is framed by walls of water that provides both a pleasant sound but also a visual effect when the water is running.
It is hoped that the work will become an attraction for residents and visitors in Askersund but also beyond the region’s borders. Advantageously, the music and art school in the new cultural center using the globe for artistic expression as described later. Sphere universal form complements and contrasts with the architecture in an exciting way. The sculpture is meant to be seen best from the Cultural Centre where it is located right in the view, but can also be seen by passers-by on the promenade and from the lake.
My first thought was to create a light sculpture, a stage and a floating bridge where the bridge is located right at the waterline so that one gets a feeling of walking on water. Globe then had a position which unfortunately was out of the competition area and was therefore not possible to implement.
My hope is that the operation of the school culture embraces the idea and want to interact with ”Moon”, pick it as an opportunity to communicate their work through projection, animation, image creation and film.
The sculpture has the potential to become a landmark with a sculptural value that can generate attention outside Askersunds limits and probably also beyond the region’s borders.
